PlayStation Store Sale Schedule: When Do PS5 Deals Change?

I built PSNDeal because the PS Store banner says "SALE" almost every single week, and there was no way to tell a real drop from a repackaged one. Once the site started pulling prices daily, the pattern behind Sony's promotions became obvious after about six weeks of data. Here's what actually moves, and when.
How often do deals actually refresh
Two things change on a reliable cycle. Deal of the Week rotates a small set of headline titles every Wednesday, and it's usually the least interesting one, a handful of games get a modest cut and the rest of the store doesn't move. The bigger tell is the themed sale, Big in Japan, Critics' Choice, Essential Picks, whatever Sony's running that month. These also launch on Wednesdays but run two to three weeks, and that's where most of the real movement happens.
Regional pricing updates at the same moment across India, the US, the UK, and the EU, but the percentage off is not the same number in every region. That mismatch, and wanting to actually see it, is half the reason PSNDeal has a region switcher in the first place.

The deepest cuts of the year, on almost everything
Spring Sale is usually where a first-party PS5 exclusive gets its first genuinely deep cut, months after launch rather than a token 15% off. Days of Play is the one worth waiting for if you can, it's the only reliable window where Sony lets its own exclusives drop below 40% off. Black Friday through the Holiday Sale runs the longest and cuts the deepest across the entire catalog, not just first-party.
When should you actually buy
Not every publisher plays the same game. Sony's own titles rarely go below 30–40% off outside Days of Play or Black Friday, full stop. If you see God of War at 20% off in April, that's not a deal, that's Sony reminding you the game exists. Ubisoft, EA, and Square Enix are looser about it, they discount early and often, so something like Assassin's Creed Valhalla can hit 60%+ off within an ordinary sale cycle without you needing to wait for a flagship event at all.
The honest answer to "should I buy now" is: check the price history first. A 30% discount that's never been beaten is worth buying today. A 30% discount on a game that hit 60% off four months ago is Sony testing whether you're paying attention. Track deals without the Wednesday ritual
Rather than opening the PS Store every Wednesday out of habit, this is what I actually use:

- PS5 Deals: only PS5 titles on sale.
- 50%+ Off: the biggest discounts in the current cycle.
- Wishlist: save games and set a target price so you find out the moment it's hit.
